“The school is a happy and harmonious community. Many examples of kind and thoughtful behaviour were witnessed and pupils are excellent ambassadors for the school.”
Year 4 builds upon everything your child has learned so far in their academic journey; it provides a greater understanding of the National Curriculum subjects whilst teaching valuable life skills too. Over the course of the next few months they will venture further into the realms of geography, science, faith around the world, and more.
This is because our school believes in a broad but relevant curriculum. Although foundation subjects are given a high status in order to secure opportunities and develop a strong all-round experience, topics are still a vital part of Year 4 learning. For example, the children’s understanding of English is enhanced through the likes of a rainforest theme or C.S Lewis’ classic novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Year 4 is divided into three classes – 4DH, 4CW and 4ES. These groups are led by a team of versatile and experienced teachers, including:
- Mr David Hardwick (4DH class teacher)
- Mr Chris Westwood (4CW class teacher)
- Miss Emma Smith (4ES class teacher)
Learning Support Assistants
In addition, both classes enjoy the help of a knowledgeable and skilled LSA:
- Mrs Karen Stanley
- Mrs Alison Lapes
- Mrs Julie Creed
Please Note: At the beginning of each term you’ll be sent a Curriculum Newsletter which provides more information regarding the things our year group will cover (not to mention any other important details).
