Writing this term
We have been enjoying the book The Arrival.
There are no words in the book, it is purely pictures. We had great fun trying to work out what the story is about as there are really interesting pictures. We have already been enjoying writing our own setting description of the following picture:
We wrote our own diary entries from the view of being the man who fled his home and had to go to another city. We thought carefully about emotive language and how to hook in the reader.
Science
We are looking at electricity this term. We are really enjoying exploring how to create a circuit, especially getting lights lit up.
We also had a visitor from National Grid, who told us about how to be safe around electricity and some of the dangers that are out there.
Look at this picture, can you see the dangers that are happening:
Geography
Our topic for this term is answering the question: How is climate change affecting the World?
We have been looking at Elhaji from The Gambia. He is nine years old and he works as a shoe cleaner and barrow boy (delivering goods home from the market in a trolley which he pushes). He works in Banjul, the capital city of The Gambia (a country in West Africa).
We have also been looking at what makes Bradford on Avon flood, making our own news video about what happens in our town and what locals to do if there are flood warnings.
Well-being week
We had great fun during well-being week. Not only did we think about helping ourselves with our well-being, but also thinking about others. We also worked individually on some painting then it was put together to create a group/team piece of learning.
To end the week we went on the I can and I will bus. We talked about challenges in life and how we can create steps in achieving this. We also made yummy pizza which made us think about what we can be happy about.
