We had a great time at Christ Church, designing what the new planters should have in them as well as planting bulbs in the grounds ready to come out in Spring.

We welcomed our visitor from Network Rail ready for our trip next week to the cinema. We learnt so much about how to be safe on a train or near a train. We asked the most amazing questions as well.

Author visit

We have been really lucky to have the author Sarah Bowie who has created the novels Nina Peanut visit our school as part of the Bath Literature Festival. The children enjoyed having a go at their own pictures. Check them out:

Writing this term

We have been enjoying the book The Arrival.

There are no words in the book, it is purely pictures. We had great fun trying to work out what the story is about as there are really interesting pictures. We then created a diary entry pretending that we were the man who had left his family to go to the city. The children’s diary entries are the man sharing how it has all been going so far and how he is missing his wife and daughter.

First week of school

We begun the school year with looking at the book The Lost Words.

Year 6 focused on the poem and pictures of magpies.

We created acrostic poems and Haiku poems about this magnificent bird. Read some of them below:

We also created some lovely artwork based on magpies and images in the book:
